MOVE WITH EASE · 2 MIN

A little space for your shoulders

A gentle seated movement for a day spent looking down or sitting still.

Overview of the shoulder break, matching the source-linked written instructions

A CLEAR REASON TO BEGIN

Why try it?

Moving your upper body through a comfortable range gives your shoulders a change from a held position. This is a simple mobility practice, not a treatment for an injury.

TAKE YOUR TIME

Let’s give it a try.

  1. 01
Seated upright with feet on the floor and arms comfortably crossed over the chest.

    Find a steady seat

Sit upright on a firm chair with your feet on the floor. Let your shoulders settle and cross your arms comfortably over your chest.

  2. 02
Upper body turns gently while the hips remain facing forward; a top-view inset shows the difference.

Turn a little, not a lot

Keep your hips facing forward. Slowly rotate your upper body to one side, only as far as feels easy.

  3. 03
Upper body returns to the middle before turning to the other side, with hips still forward.

    Return and change sides

Pause briefly, return to the middle and try the other side. Start with a few slow turns, without forcing the stretch.

Keep it comfortable.

Keep breathing normally. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or new symptoms. If you have an injury or restricted movement, ask a health professional which movements are suitable.
